Watching them jump with excitement when they score their first goal in soccer; smiling as they nail every lyric to their favorite song on the radio; the pride when they can write their whole name for the first time; the still-cute pronunciations (“punkmen” for pumpkin); the pre-K stories they come home with about sharing or being a good friend. And then how awesome it is that they are big enough to pick out their own outfit, get dressed, brush their teeth and hair and load their backpack without your help in the morning; fetch you a glass of water from the kitchen if you’re thirsty, and show enthusiasm for helping with minor tasks like vacuuming and dusting. Of course despite being so independent, they still want to give you full body hugs and unsolicited proclamations of love all day. As my twins get closer to turning five, I know I’ll be really nostalgic for four for a long time coming. Enjoy your little ones, everybody!

Yup. Love the full body hugs and the intense happiness at the smallest things.
