Yes! thank you. The whole premise is almost exactly the same. I'm going to change the names of Carrie Soto - make her a different race and make millions!

Are you always so reductive? “They’re both about female tennis players, therefore they’re the same book!”

Why are you so rude? I read both - you didn't. They are virtually the same book.

I have read both books, and I completely disagree with you. Other than both playing elite tennis, they were very different characters, the plot lines were different, and their characters went through very different development arcs.

Apples Never Fall?
But I don’t think that’s what OP is thinking of

You seem really offended that the main character is Hispanic.

Definitely remember the passing reference to Carrie Soto in Malibu Rising. But I found this book way too predictable. Totally could have sketched out the rest of the plot myself at the 20% mark. 😔

Me too. I actually couldn't get past the third chapter. It just wasn't worth my time. I really enjoyed the Seven Husbands of...and Malibu Rising. I wasn't a fan of Daisy Jones either. So she's a hit or miss author for me.

I thought Carrie Soto felt familiar simply because of the Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova rivalry mashed up with Serena Williams.

I know but Carrie Soto was an afterthought in MR. There was a very similar (almost exact) book a few years ago. The story even had the beautiful tall tennis rival, the on and off boyfriend, the father involvement.

BTW the audio version of this book is very good. Multiple narrators, including Patrick Mcenroe and Mary Carillo (sports analyst).

Anyone else notice how similar this book is to another? I swear I have read it before - a couple years ago.
