You would have to show that there is enough demand to warrant leveled classes at your inbounds school.

Have your kid take Japanese at Montgomery College through Dual Enrollment.

Maybe once upon a time but with Youngkin's VA they focus more on regressive policies than education.

+1 I still have fond memories of my Japanese classes at Whitman 20 years ago. Their current web page says:

"Whitman currently offers Japanese 1, 2, 3H, 4H, 5, and AP. This year, because of enrollment, we have combined levels 2 and 3, and 4, 5, and AP into sections together."

yeah, each year varies according to how many kids sign up. Sometimes they offer Arabic and Russian, other times they do not.

MCPS teacher here. My daughter is bilingual in Japanese. I asked a language teacher in my school about this. She suggested writing to the head of foreign language teachers in the county. There may be an option to have your child go to Einstein or Blair for a 1st period class. I am wondering if there could be a zoom option though.

That's subjective. Over half the English language is derived from Latin. We use the Roman alphabet and our culture seems to also be derivative. Lingua Latina non mortua est.

Do any mcps high schools offer Japanese? Does anyone know the process for trying to get a language added? Seems like this is more useful than Latin and given the popularity of anime I think a lot of kids would be very motivated. Mine is doing duolingo Japanese.
