What can be done is that people can drop their entitlement. If you’re not disabled and you get on a bus, you and your kids need to be prepared to stand. Stop policing others’ language. Done.

Metro Transit Police should be on buses, too. MPD should be on Circulators, akin to TSA on planes - you won't know who they are, but they will keep you from hurting anyone. But that would require a huge cultural shift at MPD. They view themselves more as warriors than cops with all of us and our petty needs, like safety, beneath them. Look at their crime clearance rates - it's almost as if we pay them to not work.

Anonymous[b wrote:]Honestly I thought the video would be way worse.[/b] Obviously what the kids did was unacceptable and they should be charged with assault. But they don’t have weapons and they’re not hitting her, they’re just trying to push her off the bus. Way scarier stuff happens on the buses. I think it was 10+ years ago at the height of when DC was “good” and there were kids throwing rocks at the buses which was really dangerous. This is bad but not that “scary.”

Let's do that to you and see if you think "it could be way worse"

You clearly didn’t watch the whole video. It said they were checking her and throwing stuff at her.

What can be done? Avoid areas and places, like “bad neighborhoods” and public transit where violent people are more likely to be.

Your privilege is really showing. You realize that so many people in DC have no choice but to live where they live and take public transportation, right. So we should make it safer for them instead of throwing our hands up and letting these hoodlums run the show.
