Had to check the date of this post. Why would you ask healthy children to wear a mask - especially when the baby's parents don't care. Crazy.

Not your problem if the mother doesn't vaccinate. The baby has a baby's immune system. It isn't weak or not there. Babies get sick and it's unpleasant but typically not anything serious to worry about. That includes covid. Flu is more of an issue for that age group. But you would know if your children had the flu and could pass it on.

You need to stop obsessing and let the baby’s parents decide what they want to do. If they want to be in same house as you and your children unmasked, then stop with this.

If no symptoms, then don't mask.

If symptoms, probably don't attend the gathering, or at a minimum tell the family of the newborn so they can decide their risk level.

I wouldn't worry at all about covid, but i would worry about germs around a baby in general because that can just be scary and annoying to deal with a respitory disease in a child that young. But at 7 months, isn't the baby in daycare/or otherwise interacting with the public? Unless the baby is special needs, they are past the window of being super cautious.

This. The baby will be fine (and should have one Covid shot and a flu shot by then). The grandparents are much higher risk of adverse outcomes from Covid.

Oh I also recommend opening windows and doors and running hepa filters.

At the very least, do a rapid test on everyone right before you go over. And don’t go over if anyone is sick.

I cannot imagine asking/ making my daycare/ young school age kids to wear a mask in this scenario.

I don't think a mask is necessary if the kids aren't actively sick. The baby is past the point where it's at significantly higher risk due to the underdeveloped immune system - my kid is 1.5 now, I remember that marker being 2 months I think? I was worried about my little baby being around possibly sick kids at that age but not by the time he was 7 months.

You should covid test before they come and let the parents decide. Being vaccinated helps you with severity not stopping with transmission. If your kids are sick with a runny nose or illness, you stay home.

My 3 kids go to daycare/school, and they sometimes get sick on and off like running nose, coughing etc. Sometimes, they are just common cold, or sometimes they need to stay home for a few days.

We have a new family member joining us this year this thanksgiving dinner at grandparents place, and the baby will be 7 months old. It will be the first time my kids will be meeting the baby in person instead on zoom/phone because I have been avoiding my kids seeing that baby because they could have germ. We are all fully vaccinated for covid, should we wear mask at grandparents house the whole time or not because there is a baby there? The parents of the baby do not seem to care too much about that.

I don't think my kids care too much about baby, so probably they will watch tv, play toys or else. But we will be indoor at inlaw house for a few hours for dinner and my kid's birthday celebration as well. What happens if one of my kid (most likely) has those on & off coughing again, should we still go to the dinner? Grandparents probably are fine with that because they could wear mask. What is the chance that baby might get sick? The baby's parents know that my kids are always sick.
