Is she in heat? Their tales droop to the sides/down when they’re in heat.

No, she’s four and acting like her usual self otherwise. Maybe a bit more hyper.

It does move and she occasionally holds it up, but much less frequently than usual. I notice it’s down at times she’s definitely happy and playing.

It is probably a smaller injury that will heal then. My cat's fractured tail was just dragging as she could only move the base.

Just to add - she is indoor only.

She usually walks in a sprightly eat with your tail raises up, abs I noticed recently that she’s been keeping it low, even when she’s happy, playing or begging for treats. She’s definitely doesn’t seem fearful or distressed. She’s purely indoor and I haven’t seen her fall or cause any injury to herself but when I feed her in the dark at 5am she is often underfoot snd u think I recently may have stepped on her tail in my Uggs slippers, which have a hard sole.

I can touch her tail and she doesn’t seem to be in pain, but she’s just carrying it low and I know that cats can hide pain well. Might I have fractured her tail when I accidentally stepped on it? That makes me sick to my stomach to think of. I’ll call the vet tomorrow but anyone BTDT? Anything else it can be?
