I disagree. Some of those kids come from backgrounds where the parents aren't there, are in jail, split, in extreme poverty. In jail. Raised by grandma or no one..there is only do much a coach can do. The player who ripped the helmet off that northwest player should have been penalized with expulsion and banned from mcps sports for the rest of his high school life. That's where the example should have come from.
I'm actually just disappointed with the decision. The kids aren't stupid. They see mcps talking out of both sides of their mouth about "restorative justice" and allowing that racist history teacher to move to virtual while they fire 3 coaches for a football scuffle. It seems unfair, especially after seeing the recording of what happened. What I see and what everyone sees is a head coach get one of his players assaulted with a helmet ripped off, he himself assaulted physically and then benched for weeks without a hearing and then fired. I don't think it's a very good model of how the world works to the predominantly young black players to have that happen to a not do much older black man.
They really missed on this one and it's sad.

Finally some adult accountability for the fight on the football field. They should have set a higher standard of conduct for the players.
