Someone in my Buy Nothing group offered to list things for those who live in areas where it is hard to leave things out. I'm sure if you asked someone in the group to do that for you, you would have plenty of volunteers.

Buy Nothing is great.

I save unusable textiles and electronics for about a year and go to the special area of the dump once a year.

I live in an apartment. I put things out in a hallway with a post-it that says "FREE!"

Be aware of the hoarders on buy nothing groups. Don't feed them.

My buy nothing group has some apartments. They get a message when someone is on the way, and then leave it by the door.

Buy nothing is awesome, I use it to. I also leave things out on the porch when I know someone is coming by.

Depending on your neighborhood and traffic, you could leave things at the curb with a "free" sign. When I was in a townhome, everything I left out would be gone by the end of the day.

Landfills in the USA aren’t all that harmful to the environment.

Putting lots of thought and time and energy into this sort of thing is rarely worth it. It’s definitely not worth it to drive a donation a long way in a car that uses gas.

I used to be able to just put things on the porch or curb and someone would pick it up. Now I live somewhere where management would probably frown on leaving things out. Should I go ahead anyway and use Freecycle? Some areas are under video surveillance like the garbage area, so I don't want to leave things there, and I don't want to clutter the entrance to the building. How do people get rid of things if they don't live in a house? Some things I donate by dropping off, but other things I'd rather give to an individual without wanting to actually meet a stranger.
