Would you be willing to share the private tutor you used?

We used Prep 1 on 1, which had competitive pricing. Tutoring works well for motivated kids who take practice tests on their own.

Did your DC take a mock ACT as well to compare? You want to make sure you’re studying for the correct test for you.

Goodness. I knew none of this. I’m glad I asked. Sounds like we should plan on taking test in March with a course before that. When I looked at Kaplan, I couldn’t find a list of in person classes (and sat dates were outdated). They seem to be pushing online. Any experience with either?

Agreed! I think waiting until spring junior year is cutting it close in case your child needs to retake to get a higher score. When I was taking the exam, most students took it between 10th and 11th or fall semester of junior year at the latest. Most student I know took Kaplan and did well.

Good luck to your student(s)!

At what point in time is an SAT prep course recommended? Is spring of 11th grade a good target? And any recommendations? I know Montgomery College offers test prep. I'm sure Kaplan, etc. as well.
