We just through the process of car shopping. If you want a hybrid or ev, it’s pretty much impossible unless you are willing to pay thousands over msrp. Otherwise there are cars out there, you may even find some under msrp depending on what you are looking for.

We want to buy a new hybrid. We shopped a few months ago for a new car at the Toyota dealerships in NoVA. They didn't have any cars! They wanted thousands of dollars to 'order' one, then they were adding thousands over MSRP. Total scam. These dealerships are unethical. Toyota lost our business. We are going with another brand.

Depends on part quality as well. My 2005 Toyota Corolla is made with better parts than my 2010 Mazda 5.

It’s not only about miles, it’s also about age. At 14 years of age, a car would have many problems even with low mileage.
The maintenance that is required at that age to keep the car running smoothly may not be worth it for some people.

I always keep up with maintenance. Some cars don't last as long as others. I think my first car was actually only 120k and my second was around 180k.

You've got a 14 year old car. I'd definitely say it's time for a new one. I drive my cars until the wheels fall off but that's not always the best thing because I've been stranded on the side of the road at the end of two car's lives when they were about as old as yours and past 150k miles.

I had a good experience buying a used car this week. I mean, prices are higher than they have been, but I don't think it's worth waiting. I also got rid of a 2008 that needed 3k of repairs. FWIW, you can probably sell your Prius for 6-7k.

2008 Prius. People keep telling me to wait. I’m almost at 150k miles and this summer had to pay $3k in repairs. Are we talking months or years?? I want to buy a two year old Prius. Please help if you are in the know or have a crystal ball. Thank you so much!
