It would affect W-L the most since all those single family neighborhoods along the Orange Line would more than likely transition to higher density. That could mean even more neighborhoods would be moved to Yorktown from the W-L zone.

We were over crowded before missing middle. What a nightmare.

The same could be said for the long proposed but never built western high school in FCPS. That said, Yorktown will remain the smallest of the APS high schools, but the most competitive in sports due to demographics. So it would be harder to make teams with cuts than at McLean HS for example.

Guess a lot of families want to send their kids there.

Yorktown and McLean are same difference. Pick the type of neighborhood and house you want.

Yorktown and McLean have similar neighborhoods and income levels. The main difference is that FCPS has a more structured advanced academic program at the elementary and middle school levels, which attracts some families, including many Asian families, to the McLean pyramid, whereas APS has a less structured advanced academics programs, which attracts other families to the Yorktown pyramid. But as a result McLean has a higher academic profile - for example, McLean has 22 National Merit Semifinalists this fall, whereas Yorktown had three. McLean also won the state Scholastic Bowl a couple of years ago and the DC region's "It's Academic" contest this past year. Yorktown is less intense academically, and generally stronger at sports.

Both Yorktown and McLean will put you between the DC region's two biggest job markets - DC and Tysons/Reston. Yorktown puts you closer to DC; McLean puts you closer to Tysons.

Yorktown and Meridian are both in new facilities with all the latest bells and whistles. McLean HS sorely needs a renovation and expansion for its growing student body.

McLean is more diverse than Yorktown.
Meridian is smaller than either.
Most student will do find at all three.

As you said Meridian is IB and the other two are AP - so that is a choice.

Otherwise pick the house that best fits your family and has the shortest commutes.
