I think princess or fairy is a good choice and if the goal is to fit in or be like other kids, doing a costume from a movie or TV show like Frozen or one of the Marvel or DC comics and movies is very popular. The kids in my child’s preschool last year dressed as Elsa, Wonder Woman, Black Panther, Spider-Man, etc. my DD dressed as a unicorn which was also perfectly fine. This year she is 5 and going as princess.

Disney has accessible costumes now - I would scroll through those and pick 6 for her to choose among.

+1. OP it sounds like she is overwhelmed by the question. At 4, she may not yet have a firm grasp on the concept of Halloween, or costumes, or how you figure out what you want to be. Don't ask her. Show her some possibilities and see what she likes.


Yes my daughter didn’t get it at her age and my son who is just 4 also doesn’t. I showed them pics!

I'm looking for popular costumes for 4 year old girls. I've got a non-verbal 4 year old, who typically likes to do what the other kids are doing, but I have to give her choices (because she can't brainstorm verbally). For some reason, I just can't guess what she'll think is cool this year.

(To complicate matters more, it has to work in a wheelchair, which rules out bird and butterfly costumes, which I know she would like.)
