Only one other parent in each of the three classes I was able to observe this morning. But my kid was happy I was there, and it was helpful to get a sense of the teachers.

I’m at my kid’s HS Open House right now and would say it varies based on class. Average of 30 kids in each classroom. About 7-10 parents attending.

I am definitely glad I came. Found it useful and don’t think any of us parents were in the way at all.

I saw a lot of parents lining up to go in at my child's HS. Heard from DC it's traditionally 1/4 or less of the class which still seems like a lot.

Back in the 1980s at my MCPS high school, it wasn't fake. Parents just stood in the back and everybody carried on as normal. We always got a decent number, but never so many that space was an issue (or that it was cool or not cool, or whatever). I miss those non-cynical days.

This describes how open houses worked for my now 9th grader when she was in elementary school. I’m not planning on going now that she’s in high school though.

Lots used to go to Blair's. I actually brought a grandparent once because I thought they would like some of the courses. (They loved it). None of the kids seemed fazed by parents there. Also tons show up for TPMS.

Kids don't behave like they did in the 80s. Times have changed. Kids don't know how to behave at all-this isn't bc of COVID either because they didn't know/care in 2019 either. Not sure where the disconnect is happening, but its there. Parents will blame the school. Schools will blame the parents.

I’ve been to my kid’s HS Open House and there were definitely parents there! I don’t expect it to be a ‘normal’ day. Still nice to see what the school is like.

My 6th grader doesn't even want me to show up at the open house. I can't imagine showing up for HS.
