Happened to my kid, too, over the weekend. Now, they're locked out of their account. I'm hoping someone at the school office can help since it makes it hard for them to do their assignments.

Our MS (Hallie Wells) had it announced in advisory several times.

Each year the people who are caught off guard by this and send emails to the listserves are reliably the most frantic, clueless people. No surprise that parents are calling "incompetence!" about things that their children should be handling: is this because they usually micromanage their children to the extent that they don't read their own emails?

Same at work. Don't you all have this at work, too? The people who get locked out are the ones who are completely and totally out to lunch.

Special needs, elementary kids, or new to the county kids I can understand. But for most: really. Just get it together. There are so many warnings.

It is rolling.

Kids are always supposed to change their passwords around when school begins each year because there is a mandatory password re-set (required change) each year. My 8th grader has been doing this since 3rd grade.

If you don't change it yourself, MCPS changes it for you and you are locked out.

Happens every year.

My MS kid said the dates are rolling based on when they changed them last year. They also said they got 8 MCPS emails warning of the change and the teachers made announcements for several days. (Not at Westland, but at another school where I know some kids have had the same problem.)

I agree that it’s dumb to lock them out on a Friday, since they can’t fix it until Monday.

DD at Westland was not aware she needed to change her password but when I told her just now, she found MyMCPS still works AND THE EMAIL SAYS SHE HAS 30 DAYS TO CHANGE HER PASSWORD.

This. Students are warned in advance. It’s a bit understandable that ES students might not see the warning, but MS students should log on at least once a week.

Let the teachers know of the issue and don't worry about it. It's not limited to WMS.

What do you mean? MCPS reset the passwords for everyone at the school? MCPS tech is a joke and they should be fired. Completely thoughtless to do it at 3 p.m. on a Friday. I hope the superintendent is reading this because there are huge problems with that department.

Tried that. It has been changed as well!

We can not get in and I am very frustrated b/c I finally got my ADD kid to sit down for the afternoon to do his homework.

Of course, he's thrilled . . .

I find Westland such an interesting school. There’s going to be an open house to give prospective parents an overview of their programming, as if they have a different curriculum than the rest of MCPS. However, there’s no link for requesting urgent tech concerns like many other schools provide.

Can you try to change the password to gmail (the MCPS gmail) and then log in? Good luck; that is super frustrating.

My DS tried to do his hw today and can't get into MYMCPS. Apparently the password was changed yesterday afternoon after school?

This seems nuts! The email about this went out at 3 p.m. on Friday.

I did not see it until this morning and now it's too late to change his password and he is locked out of MY MCPS for the whole weekend and can't do any work.

Is anyone else having issues or have any suggestions?
