The food options are surprisingly good, wide-ranging, and affordable. Lots of global ethnic diversity.

Playgrounds, rec centers, free indoor pools, free outdoor pools.

I seem to have no problem meeting friends. Being a parent of a young child here means that you meet people through schools, playgrounds, summer camps, extra curriculars, and so on. I run into the same parents that I met a year ago at a playground all the time. It feels neighborhoody in that way.

I like the museums.

Downtown by the mall is beautiful.

Rock Creek Park.

I can generally get around with very minimal car use.

+2 to the green space. I love that there are parks and playgrounds within a 5 minute walk in every direction.

I love autumn in DC. It's the best time of the year.

I live on the Hill, and really like it. I love being able to walk to almost everything I need.

I like my neighbors, and the parents/families I meet at my kids' schools. Most people around here are nice.

Overall, I feel lucky to live here.

Ooo good one!

I love not having, needing, or missing a car. Walking and public transit are so much better and easier.

I think DC is the perfect size - big enough that there's always new people and new things going on, but small enough that it feels like one place (unlike Manhattan, where the Village vs. Upper East Side feels like a long distance relationship!

This forum is often overly critical of DC. Lets share what you love about it and why do you want to live here?
