We have the 1L w glass carafe (they might not make this size anymore.) i use the same pre-ground coffee I drank before and it went from good to delicious. I do weigh the grounds. I set it up the night before and have hot coffee within 4 minutes.

I bought a KGBT last year, thinking that it was a slight upgrade in functionality and I hated it. Super fussy to brew, really easy to not seat the filter basket just right and then you end up with a huge mess.

Can't comment on the glass carafes, though.

KGBT is the one where you adjust manually for the amount of coffee you want to brew

We have had the Techivorm for almost 8 years now, and a separate Rancilio Rocky coffee grinder. No complaints.

-easy to clean

Is the Moccamaster right for me? If so, which one? If not, what else look to look at?

I have the moccamaster with the steel carafe (but you can get glass too) and a separate coffee grinder. The only con is that there's a little start up to figuring out the machine. Steps as follows:

1. measure coffee beans on scale, put in grinder.
2. put in paper filter pour in ground coffee
3. fill top of machine, with correct amount of water
4. make sure the filter is open at least part way when you turn on the machine or there will be an empty carafe and very hot water sitting precariously in the filter!
5. Coffee doesn't take long to make and soon you be doing these steps in your sleep (almost literally)

Buy a coffee grinder- Moccamaster + freshly ground coffee beans = divine

I've had the machine for several years. It's easy to clean and indestructible.

Thanks - what kind of grinder do you have? Slightly overwhelmed by all the options. Do you grind fresh right before every single brew?

I believe it's a cuisinart. We got it a Williams and Sonoma at the same time we bought the machine. Both have been great- no problems, excellent coffee.
