CarPlay. If she doesn’t have it, she will just manually look at her phone anyways because teenager. Thereby defeating the purpose of your “safety” reasoning.

I turn off all notifications on CarPlay. It makes for a massively safer and less distracting experience. Google Maps on CarPlay is amazing and so effortless.

Apple car play for Google maps only. Please God don’t encourage her to read messages and change music while she’s driving.

CarPlay. Without it she’ll get an aux cord and have to control her music manually on the phone. She won’t just listen to the radio.

It's less of a distraction than using my phone for reading texts or picking music, but it's absolutely more of a distraction than watching the road and listening to the radio. To me, it's too much of a distraction for a new driver. I wish I had a good answer for you about what to do, but I don't. I do know that if I had been trying to read texts and drive at 16 I would have gotten into accidents.

CarPlay is safer

Absolutely safer

DH and I are debating whether or not we should get Apple Car Play for our newly licensed DD. I think it would be safer for her to control her music and read her notifications on the dashboard instead of using her phone. DH thinks that by seeing all the notifications on the dashboard DD will be more inclined to read them, than if she just heard the notification on her phone. Obviously what would be the most ideal is if she would turn off her phone altogether, but realistically we know that’s very unlikely.

For those of you who have Apple/Google car play, do you find it to be less of a distraction to read/respond to texts using it as opposed to using your phone
