I’m only sort of joking. The two Wegmans nearest me are chronically understaffed. Maybe on cashier lane open and the self checkout lanes all backed up.

Why would you assume sausage= bacon? To me, if it specifically includes bacon, then it’s implicitly excluding other things that are not bacon, like sausage.

I also agree with pp that coupons are stupid.

Had a similar coupon experience as OP at Amazon Fresh. Did the same...left food at register. Got me in the store and I was not impressed. More like a quick mart. And I don't like hassles when shopping!

I really hate the restrictions on coupons that make them basically impossible to use. My mom tried to use a coupon at Sears (years ago) she had read the restrictions and picked out 10 items. The clerk said that non of the items were eligible. So my mom asked the clerk to find something in the store that the coupon would work on. She was willing to buy absolutely anything. After 15 minutes the clerk gave up and admitted that she could not find anything in the entire store that would be eligible. My mom walked out without buying her 10 items and went to Kohls. Coupons get customers in a store and the bait and switch works for awhile. But at some point the customers get fed up with it and go shop somewhere else.

One of the few things I’ve liked about Amazon Fresh has been the coupons. Coupons have been as generous as saving $10 on a $20 purchase. The coupons have become more and less generous, and more and less specific, as the store tries to get the recipe right for luring in shoppers.

Yesterday, I had a coupon for $10 off a $20 purchase of meat. The coupons could not be used on prepared food, but specifically mentioned bacon as eligible for the discount. With the discount, I was willing to try new products. I gathered up Amazon Fresh store brand bacon, and some sausages from a brand that I was not familiar with. The cashier rang up my purchases, scanned the coupon, then informed me that the products I’d picked were not eligible for the discount. I didn’t have time to press the issue, so I left the store with nothing.

My beef (haha) is that if the store is using coupons to lure new shoppers, they need to clearly delineate exactly what the coupons do and do not cover. I had read the fine print twice, and the items that I chose were right next to each other in the case, so the sausage was from the same store department as the bacon — which the coupon explicitly covered. My AF coupon experience did the opposite of what it was intended to do. Since I can’t do a full shop there, I might as well limit my grocery shopping to stores that have everything on my list. Time to check out the new Wegman’s.

tldr: I miss the old Giant.
