I'm about to order the Alex and Ani charm station bangle bracelet with a couple of charms. I actually want this style in 14k gold but I can't find it so I'm going to give this a try. It says the jewelry is nickel free so I'm hoping this will work.

+1 Kendra Scott actually has some nice, dainty and affordable pieces in sterling silver and gold vermeil that are not instantly recognizable as Kendra Scott because they aren't that ubiquitous oval(ish) shape.

You shouldn't have said that because it sounds defensive and it's not true. When I go home to visit my parents my mom and I always take a trip through her jewelry box - it's just fun to do - and there's a LOT of 80s gold jewelry that just doesn't look like what anyone would wear now (she doesn't wear it now, either).

But def wear what you like! I'm sure your coworker was kicking herself for saying that as she walked away - sometimes dumb things slip out of your mouth and then you spend years in therapy trying to get yourself past it. I hear.

I think the big oval-ish kendra scott earrings are outdated (because they were so popular at one time), but some of the other pieces are not.

I still wear my Alex and Ani bracelets, though not as many at one time as I used to.

This thread reminds me of a comment a co-worker made to me years ago. I was wearing a gold chain with beads, what was called an "add-a-bead" necklace in the 80s, and she said "I used to have one of those when they were in style."

None of those are in fashion anymore. Of course if you still like them, wear them, but I have purged all "statement" fashion jewelry and now wear only very simple gold and silver jewelry.

My Pandora bracelet contains charms that my family has given me over the years that are very meaningful for me. I don't wear it to please other people. I wear it (and will continue to wear it) because it makes me happy. I don't buy into needing to change my clothes/accessories every season to keep up with styles.

Pandora is definitely outdated. Alex and Ani are so simple that I think they're fine to keep wearing if you like them. It really depends on the Kendra Scott pieces. Some are more timeless, some (like anything super statement-ish) are dated now but I'd guess at some point those will come back in.

I don’t know the styles you’re talking about, but I always keep anything not costume. I have old David Yurman, for example.
Not in style now, but could be again or maybe something my kid or their cousins will like when older. Following my mother’s lead here; she always keep things meaningful and/or valuable. As a teen and in college (and some still now), I loved her 60s and 70s jewelry.
