Not sure about that but their claims are completely false. The board did everything possible to fix a broken system with rampant cheating to ensure that all students in the county get a fair shot not just those who buy test answers.

Not only is it possible for almost everyone with few exceptions who gets in preps. This is a fact. One prep center alone who publicly listed their clients accounts for 30% of an entering class! Some families spend tens of thousands of dollars for this over a decade. Recently some were even able to get the test questions in advance, for a fee.

Op here. Yes. I would like the child to attend the base school. I think it would be a less stressful experience. But I won't stop the child from going to TJ if the child gets in.

Your child should do a lot of essay practice. It will be somewhat similar to college essays, so look at those types of prompts. Add in prompts like dinner with famous person, inspiring person, etc. The TJ essays will be shorter.

My TJ sophomore (attended one of the historically low TJ admission rate middle schools) worked very hard on his practice essays. He wrote one or two a week for months and we had a tutor give him feedback.. He had great grades and a lot of extracurricular activities but I think have a strong essay may have made difference.

No not really. Have them review rhe profile of a graduate elements and think about themselves against each (this was public info last year). That’s about it unless the process changes.

My child really wants to go. The child is very strong in stem and has an interest in it. Plans to major in engineering in college.

This kid will be fine at the base school so if the child doesn’t get it it is ok…but is willing to put in work if it will help.
