I don’t get why you would purchase anything when you can just use wax and you already have a candle.

Light the candle, drip wax into the holder, then stick the candle in. If there’s already wax in there use a hairdryer to melt it before you stick the candle in.

If the candle is too fat, use a vegetable peeler to make the bottom narrow enough.

There are base sizes, yes. But you can whittle them down to fit. And drip a little molten wax into the hole first to help keep a candle in place.

Somehow in my 40s I'm not qualified enough to know how to solve my dilemma: none of my taper candles fit into my candleholders. The tapers are all too thick. Do taper candles have sizes that I should have been aware of that correspond to the candle holders? Am I supposed to whittle them down with a shiv? What would Martha do?
