Sorry to threadjack. If I’m working out at home with no equipment on a mat, doing lunges etc with or without a trainer, do I wear sneakers? Can I be barefoot?

Hoka bondi 7 for arch support and great cushioning. But not sure for Zumba.

I need new sneakers/workout shoes. I'll mostly wear them to:

* Zumba classes
* Go for walks on sidewalks (as opposed to in woods)
* Walk on treadmill
* Resistance training on gym equipment (in case that matters, though I can see not so much would involve feet? I don't know, this is all new to me...)

I have almost flat feet, so a bit of arch support and also as I get older ankle support is helpful, but more important is which kind of shows are best for walking & Zumba.

Any recs? Thank you!

Sorry, but no single shoe will work well for all those activities. Also, why do people recommend a brand rather than a model? It's not helpful.

Asics gel numbus and Nike Metcons are not models? I thought the "gel nimbus" and "Metcon" were models... I haven't looked them up yet though, but they sound like models

I think they are referring to the PP who said generically ASICS are best for women. Yes, the others are models.

Go to a running store where they will examine your gait and analyze your feet and yes, probably sell you orthotic inserts as well as shoes. It will be less expensive in the long run.

I remember hearing cross-trainers recommended, are the Asics or Nike Metcon versions of a cross-trainer or cross trainers are different?

Thanks again!

Metcons are cross trainers.

So this is tough, because if you’re going to be doing a lot of Zumba you absolutely need shoes that you can pivot in easily or you will really mess up your knees. So I really don’t recommend you wear walking or running shoes which have lots of grip. Cross trainers might work if they allow pivot and you don’t need super supportive shoes for walking.

Nike Metcons - so comfortable and great for cross training, walking, errands, etc.

I also love Asics gel nimbus. I have a pair for all-around all the time (I have plantar fasciitis, and it's basically gone away since I started wearing these on errands, when WFH, walking the dog, etc.) and then another pair for the gym.

Last time I needed shoes, I went to Fleet Feet and tried on some Brooks and really didn't like them. Went home and re-ordered my Asics.

I love these shoes for running. Recently got talked into buying a pair of Brooks. They're fine, but I am going back to Asics for my next pair.

Since you are not doing running, OP, only walking, you might want to try a pair of cross trainers.

ASICS are generally the best shoes for women.
