There are plenty of NA wines that my sister loves. Fewer calories. UPS brings them to her house.

Think about the wallet when you want to drink wine. Grab for cheaper things to drink, like licorice tea.

I also like kombucha (though I'm picky about brands) and green tea. The looseleaf kind in an infuser. Feels luxurious

+1 on kombucha and other fermented drinks. For that matter, I sometimes make myself wine spritzers when I want to enjoy wine in a low quantity.

+2 on kombucha, and setting hard limits for yourself. For me, I decided that I would no longer drink alcohol on weeknights unless I was attending a special event like a work happy hour (which is rare for me, maybe once every 3 months - I would probably set a different limit if you have these more frequently). Instead I drink kombucha or sparking water with dinner. It was hard for maybe the first 2 weeks but now it feels effortless. I would also say for the first 6 months or so of this routine, I really really looked forward to having wine/beer on Friday and Saturday night, but over time my craving for that faded too. Now I typically have maybe 2 glasses of wine or a beer once a week.

I’m trying to cut back because I know it’s bad for me and it is making me fat and I hate how I feel the next day. If you also love the taste but have stopped drink it, what do you drink instead? I especially like red wine. I feel like that is hard to mimic in anything else.

You can't mimic that taste or how you feel when drinking wine. Your choice is to either cut way back, and take Advil before you drink to prevent headaches, or don't drink at all.

I hear you, OP. I recently cut way back on my drinking because I feel absolutely awful when I drink and it really messes with my sleep. I like herbal tea (the yogi Egyptian licorice mint or Harney & Sons yellow and blue are my faves!), but I especially love kombucha. I have started making my own and find that it totally hits the spot in the evening when I need something fun + a little boost. Best thing is that it is great for your digestive health - I have not had a single stomach ache since I started drinking kombucha almost every day (and I used to be borderline IBS-C).

100% real cranberry juice, in a wine glass. It's not the same, but it's good for you and you'll drink it slow.

Hibiscus tea comes close, if you're stuck on a deserted island.

This time of year a cup of hot herbal tea helps for a an evening routine without wine. Bonus, the next morning you wake up hydrated and rested.

When I was pregnant I drank Honest Tea Pomegranate Blue and that made a nice substitute, but I think Coke is discontinuing all the Honest Teas now. I like Izze Backberry soda as a swap now when I don’t want to have alcohol.
