I have B/G twins. At their last appt when they turned 12, they offered to have a female doctor work with DD and that was nice for her.

Which is all to say, I definitely don't think you need to worry about it until puberty at the very least.

My boys now 20 and 21 had a female ped and now have moved over to my practice which is all female providers.

They have never event think about it.

We just switched to a new practice and I asked my 15 year old son if he cared whether he saw a male or female pediatrician. He didn't. (At the old practice, he only saw female docs so I guess he's used to it.)

I think you are being silly.

I am a female with a male gynecologist. My teenage son has a female pediatrician. I don't see either as an issue and neither does he.

Woman doctors take more time with their patients. Is that sexist?

Look at it this way, most pediatrics practices now are a majority women (and quite a few are all women), yet 50% of the population of kids are male. If female pediatricians were that big a problem for boys, there wouldn't be so many practices where that's the only option.

I think girls tend to want female doctors, while boys don't tend to care one way or the other.

My boys have had the same doctor since they were born, and she is great, with sons of her own.

Do boys regularly get their "junk" felt at the pediatrician? That's never happened for my daughter.

My 17 year old son has been seeing his female pediatrician for years. We all love her, she has sons about the same age as my son, and she has a caring yet direct and humorous style that makes her very relatable. It's been great.

Previously he had male pediatricians when he was much younger, and there was no noticeable rapport.

My 16yo has had the same doctor since he was a few weeks old. I have offered to switch to one of the males in the practice, but he prefers to keep his doctor who he has known his whole life.
