Are we talking about 2 grades ahead? Or he says he is bored? Have you talked to the teacher? She may have a different view than you do.

And the neuropsych you would need to pay for yourself.

At ES-level, there are 1st and 4th grade programs you can apply for. Check the MCPS website under special programs. Yes, you can get a neuropsych for your Special Needs kid and petition the school for the appropriate program. Your individual school may have something after-school, but you'd have to check that yourself.

If you have the money to, let the kid self-educate on iPad with apps until they're old enough for 1:1 tutoring. Depending on the subject(s) it may be expensive.

I wouldn't count on MCPS doing anything proactive for your kids. I'm sorry, i know that's what you don't want to hear.

Don’t waste money on tests unless there are special needs. How old is your kid? Take him to the library weekly. Take him to museums around the city and festivals. Get him some math games for the computer and some good logic word games to play at home. It’s so easy to supplement at the ES level. It’s much harder in MS. The HS usually has lots of options for advanced kids.

OP, I don't know if my home school offer ELC, but I could look into it.

We make $150k on W-2, so we probably are not poor enough to be qualified for financial assistance. My kid has HFA, so I am told by developmental pediatrician that kid on spectrum like him could be likely to be gifted as well. We prefer to stay at public school because of his IEP even though he needs minimal supports now, but we cannot rule out that he may need more emotional/social supports down the road.

Do we also have any organization or support group for kids like that in MoCo that they can do something enriched together maybe after school or on the weekend in person/online? He is 6.

Most privates don’t offer full scholarships. And if they do, not to many kids. Trust that OP knows her life.

Private testing won't do anything. Does your home school offer ELC?
