Many celebrities don’t really work all that much. A successful actor can afford to have a lot of downtime between jobs. They can pay to hire tutors and bring their families with them on location. And so on.

Kris Jenner makes sense to me. Had four kids with first husband (bigger families were more common back then plus had three girls and wanted a son, then remarried and had two kids more with next husband.) idk about Diddy or Eddie Murphy but the rest you name, yes there is something off about all of them.

+1. wealthy ppl can outsource a lot of the organizational and administrative things that get in the way of enjoying kids, and can afford to give them all the best schools, camps, activities and childcare out there.

That said, certain ppl seem crazy and do seem to be filling some void or doing it for publicity- like Alec & Hilaria, Angelina Jolie, Mia farrow.

Ppl like the Beckhams seem more normal- had three boys, wanted a girl, now have four. Ryan Reynolds and Blake lively- basically anyone with deliberate family planning as opposed to hysterically birthing/adopting more kids each year.

Some celebrities are less busy by the time they have kids, depending on what they do. Look at someone like David Beckham. He retired from soccer when his kids other than his oldest were still young and apparently did a lot of the kid stuff. (That;s probably what Giselle thought Tom Brady was going to do except he...didn't retire).

I think it is this. I don't feel this way (except for the kids are awesome part), but I know a lot of people who would have had more, maybe several more, if money were no option.

We don’t really know their intent, of course. Tabloids aren’t reality. But it’s hard not to be a little cynical when celebrities adopt kids from all over the world — seems like they are trying to make a statement.

OTOH, these kids all need good homes, and celebrities are rich, so why not? I’d expect they are way less busy than the average working mom. Plus they don’t have to do any of the tedious parts of life like cooking, cleaning, laundry, yard work, errands, etc. if I had those resources I’d have a big family, too.

What makes you think that? Angelina's kids seem to be doing well and living pretty "normal " lives (college, etc.) out of the spotlight.

Yeah, but some people want to adopt kids to take them out of their bad situation. It could be different reasoning than I want kids.

There are some that grew up in bigger families so feel like 4 kids is a baseline. Ryan Reynolds strikes me that way. Others seem like they are trying to fill a void in their own live. Angelina or Tori strikes me that way. But of course I don’t know them at all. I suspect that celebrities, like the rest of us, have lots of different reasons for having kids. But they probably are more likely to be emotionally needy (given both what drives people to the industry and how hard it is to make real emotional connections kn the industry) and they are generally richer so don’t have the economic constraints most people do.

Can’t say for sure. My inkling is Angelina is for show and PR and Madonna is the real deal. Who really knows, though?

If its just a matter of money then one can help many more kids instead of offering extreme luxury to few.

Do you see it as a) just liking having children, b) filling some void or c) for publicity and appreciation? I just wonder how much actual love and care a busy celebrity parent can actually offer?
