Building the roads so that people drive at safer speeds is far more effective. That can mean things like narrower lanes.

If you've ever driven on a wide straight lane with few stop lights, you naturally go faster. I just drove on a country back road that had a 60 mph limit, but I was at my limit around 40 mph for most of it because it was narrow and didn't have a safe shoulder to provide margin.

Translation: We're going to take away car lanes, turn them in bike lanes and that will make traffic for drivers so terrible that no one will be able to move, let alone speed. Talk about inefficient.

DC has bigger problems than traffic violations

The answer to every question about why Charles Allen does or does not do something is always the same: he is an idiot.

Two-thirds of DC police are BIPOC

Because BIPOC can never be racists against other BIPOC, right?

Congratulations, today you learned what the "systemic" part of "systemic racism" means.

Sigh. "Racism" is not a synonym for "things I don't like."

Sigh. "Police disproportionately pull over BIPOC for 'speeding', while ignoring white people who speed" is both racism and a thing I don't like.

Does this mean we can get rid of traffic cameras too?

Because the police are too busy not solving crimes....

Well, you need some traffic enforcement to reduce injuries and fatalities. It should be data based -- enforcement in the highest injury areas.

But most liberal politicians don't want traffic enforcement because it disproportionately impacts drivers of color.

Personally, I'd rather get a ticket than end up in a wheelchair. Or worse. But his mileage may vary.

I have emailed CM Allen several times and he always dodges the question and just talks about "Vision Zero"
