If you are asking whether I respect parents who spend so much on a house and fancy cars that they have little left over to save for their kids’ college, the answer is no. But our public school is filled with the children of UMC parents like us who can easily afford to live in a great school district in great house with nice cars if we want them while saving enough money for retirement, to fully fund our kids college education at the college of their choice and to be full pay at a private school if we wanted to go that route. We choose public school over private because we think it’s better for our kids and (in our case at least) we support the mission of public schools and see the many cons of private.

I send my kids to public schools because the kids are more competitive there, and I like that.

This is at least better than the posters on here who say that if you send your kid to a school with significant FARMs population then you don’t love your kids.

Clearly, you have no idea what you are talking about.

We have an absurdly high income. Multiple Homes in the high $10 million range Yes, my kids went to public school. Had part-time jobs, worked in college, and omg actually paid for their own graduate school.

Making them work in college and pay for grad school when you are that wealthy is not something you should be proud of.

It's fine so long as you don't act like your children are saving the school or you are willfully subjecting your children to a terrible school just to virtue signal your progressivism.

Dumb post.

Lots of rich people don’t send their kids to private school for all sorts of reasons.

As a product of incredibly fancy private schools this board discusses endlessly, I’m sending my kid to Dcps. He needs to know his community, get that support, give that support, and he needs to know how to advocate for himself and handle the real world. I’m so lucky he gets that and a good education.

My kid was born on third and the last thing he needs is to grow up w the kids of the ppl I grew up w

People who send their kids to private don't value community? Get out of here.

Greedy and selfish? That doesn’t even make sense.

What? People with nice houses and cars probably live in nice neighborhoods where the public schools are good. If so, why would one spend money for a private? Private schools are a club. If you have good publics and you send your kid to private, it’s all about you. It’s another luxury item, unnecessary but braggable (or laughable).
