I will argue over $10. Make well over 400K. I don't like to be ripped off.

Yes, I'm a teacher. I work just as hard for a much lower hourly rate and I still say our free time is worth more than this.

I’d let it go.

My aunt once spent hours complaining over 2.00.

What say you?

OP: You are 100% right. Life is too short to argue over a very tiny sum of money at the expense of family time on a beautiful Friday afternoon.

I agree that it is not healthy and I think that your spouse needs to get a better perspective on life.

I do it too, and we have an even higher HHI. I just can't stand being swindled by a big company.

If you start ignoring $50 overcharges, OP, where does it stop?

My DH does this, too. I don't really care if he chooses to expend his time or energy on this stuff, and on occasion when there's a big problem, he gets it resolved in our favor. So I'm not going to micromanage him even I personally would just pay the bill.

I make that exact amount too and I tend to take the time to get what’s due from insurance and utility companies. I figure, while my job is fine, I’m more a work to live than live to work person, so I want to save as much money as I can so I can retire sooner rather than later. Obviously I want to use the high income to make our lives easier wherever possible too, but I see that more as spending money on a cleaning service or a restaurant meal and not letting big companies screw us out of money.

Good for him. Leave him alone.

It’s the PRINCIPLE, OP, the Principle.

What he is doing, if it escalates to a manager, might cause said manager to send an email to their billing department to change a policy, or remind them to be careful of charging people extra. It could help others.

Also, it's the principal of it all.
