I am with early posters-- hot water + lemon does the trick. Very soothing.

+1 this is my fave, in a pretty glass mug. Add a cinnamon stick to make it feel a bit special.

You can make delicious mulled cider on the stove or I even just heat a cup in the microwave in a pinch.
It has quite a bit of sugar.

Same! A friend introduced me to this and it's surprisingly pleasant all on its own.

I love a hot mug of chicken bouillon during the winter.

Hot cider came to mind. Bouillon? Can you still get Horlicks or Ovaltine?

Given your other restrictions, I'd just have hot chocolate, unless you need to avoid sugar for medical reasons.

I love hibiscus, unfortunately it interferes with one of my medicines.

Hot water with lemon? I agree with the pp- find a flavor you like. I like a good chamomile or mint tea, but there are so many. Maybe start with Rishi teas?

I am caffeine free due to heart medications and palpitations. Even decaf coffee and decaf black tea have too much and cause a reaction. I also have to watch herbal teas for medicine interactions- plus most do not have a flavor I like. No hot chocolate due to sugar.

Anyone have any alternatives? As we enter into the cooler months, I am going to miss having a warm cup of something in the hand.
