Loaf shaped! The place had regular muffins, too, but the lemon poppyseed ones were loaf shaped.

No, this predates the opening of Trader Joe’s in DC. I wish I could remember anything else about the place, but my girlfriends seem to remember this specific muffin and now the name of the place is my white whale.

Wracking my brain to remember the name of the coffee spot in downtown DC, mid to late 1990s, that sold a “low fat lemon poppyseed muffin loaf“ and coffee. The place wasn’t known for breakfast, more of a lunch place, but it had coffee options in the morning. My girlfriends all seem to remember the low fat lemon poppyseed muffin loaf, but we cannot remember the name of the restaurant. All tips greatly appreciated!
