Your daycare will have a policy about fever, and no one on here can know it. 100 degrees is a common cutoff, but again, your daycare will have a policy, which is what you should check.

Agree with others that he needs to be fever free for 24 hours without meds.

As for the discrepancy in what counts as a fever, it's probably down to how it's being measured.

Correct and we also have the same rule about fever free for 24 hours without any medication, which is a Licensing and health department rule.

Sipping warm liquids during the day like bone broth or chicken soup will help the sore throat. Ice pack wrapped in dish towel on back of neck to decrease fever. Also 1-2 tsp acv diluted in juice or water given every 3-4 hours decreases fever. High fever can be brought down with an ice bath. Stick to brat diet, minimal solid food, lots of electrolytes and fluids. Sips of liquids every 15 minutes they are awake. Lots of rest. Cool wash cloth on forehead, light blankets, wipe their body down with damp cloth and change out of sweaty clothes if fever breaks. Let it run it’s course, keep them in bed resting as much as possible. Chase the acv with Tsp. Honey if they are old enough (not for infants).

If he has a "bad cold" he should not go to daycare, regardless of whether or not he has a fever. Keep him home to rest until the worst of the cold passes. It is unkind to him to send him to daycare when what he really needs to do is lie down and get better. Also of course rude to the other families who will be exposed to his germs, and the daycare workers who will need to tend to him in a way that is really outside their role as daycare workers.

I know it's a bummer to miss work and if you were talking about a kid who felt fine generally but had a slightly elevated temperature or a runny nose, my answer would be different. But your kid is sick and needs to stay home and rest.

Put a humidifier with eucalyptus oil in the room and rub some Vicks vaporub on his chest and right under his nose.

If you saw the doctor twice, you should have these answers.

This is OP. Today is day 5. Right now, temperature is 99.4 and last fever medication taken was yesterday night 10pm. Pediatrican has ruled outUTI and ear infection. But he has many coughing that happens the worse at nighttime sleep. Is there any medication for coughing? They say he has a bit sore throat because it is a bit red when they check it.

Lower it for what? You should not give meds for a low grade fever.

If he's symptomatic, even a low fever means don't send him. If nothing else, the poor kid needs to rest. A cold + fever = stay home (and watch for URIs).

My kid has fever on & off for the last few days, and I wonder if 99.5 or 100.4 is considered fever for kid at daycare?

Any remedy to lower down the temperature? Pediatrician has seen him twice already, all points to a bad cold (fever, coughing and running nose) and covid pcr negative.
