My kiddo is in the top math group and gifted reading/writing. Homework has been pretty nuts.

This week for math, it's a 7-page review packet and a homework sheet each night.
This week for reading/writing, it's two sections on IXL a grade ahead, read a chapter book (DS's is about 400 pages), and write a draft of a book review. They did have some time to do homework at school.

We do as much over the weekend as we can. There are a lot of assignments that aren't due for several days, so DS is working on not procrastinating.

A light day is 30-40 minutes. When things are extra challenging, it's taken 2-3 hours. I'm hoping he gets into a groove and it gets easier/faster.

We're keeping after school activities light for now.

Math HW Monday - Thursday. About 20 minutes. MCPS

Last year in APS: none, except for nightly reading and the very, very occasional packet that had to be done over the course of a week.

Now in 5th grade: still none.

An hour, sometimes a bit more. Switched to a private school and there is additional catch-up that needs to be done. Expect that this number will go down as the year continues.

I'm so glad to hear this has changed. My kids are in college and when they were in es, the homework in 2nd grade took longer than that. There were so many projects that took so much time too.

Private school in Fairfax - about 20 minutes nightly.

As long as they're getting mid 90's or higher on tests, they don't do any homework unless it's a group project.

40-45 minutes max, but usually it takes less time.

Approximately 20-25 minutes. Mix of grammar, math, handwriting, Spanish.

They do everything assigned.
