This is a good idea. I've carpooled with coworkers to a colleague's funeral.

I’ve also seen this to mean it’s a cremation to follow the service.

You go to the funeral but you don't go to the cemetery.

Anyone can go to a Church, always. There are often parishioners who don't even know the deceased, but are there to participate in the mass for the deceased "funeral regulars."

Private interment means, please don't follow us to the grave site.

If there is a service, you can go; interment is the burial, which is often a family thing.

A former colleague passed away. So sad. We were not friends outside of work but his office was next to mine, and he was a friendly, helpful co-worker. Life is so fragile. Can't imagine the pain his spouse, children, parents, and siblings must be going through.

His obituary says "Interment will be private." Does this mean that the church service for the funeral is only close friends and family?
