If your child wants business - you want you kid to be a direct admit to the business school. Very difficult to transfer in.

my neighbors son was surprised he didn't get in. 1490 sat, strong EC, its academic. he will be going to MC for a couple years and then transfer in.

If you don't apply EA to UMD, you pretty much have no chance to get accepted.

I think it may be an easier admit from DC proper than from MoCo, actually. In part because top students from Maryland would be fools not to apply, so everyone better than you in your high school is applying, but top students from DC have many competitive options at the same OOS price.
