They’re pretty easy to wash when you use them so you don’t need to worry about buildup. I would worry that foil or parchment paper might interfere with the air frying.

Wash it every time you use it? It’s not an oven and is easy to wash. Just like a dish.If you don’t you are just blowing around old food bits onto your fresh food. Gross!

Yeah, ours cleans right off with regular dawn or Palmolive.

Just use a regular oven and parchment paper, easy clean up.

Mine is nonstick and everything comes off easily. We gently wash after each use.

Even with a dish-soap cleaning each time, it eventually gets gunked up with grease. Hadn't thought of oven cleaner--I'm gonna try that.

I keep it clean by . . . cleaning it after each use. Is that weird? The removable parts clean easily and the interior usually just needs a quick wipe down with soap and warm water. Usually, it doesn't even need that unless DH stuck chicken thighs or something greasier in there.

I put foil at the bottom and every so often clean it with the easy off.

Any tips for keeping the air fryer plate/grate from getting gunked up with grease and other food residue? Our old air fryer died and now we have a brand new one so I want to do better about keeping it in good shape. Other than washing it ASAP are there other tips? I saw some ad about using a parchment type liner. Not sure if that would be good to try.
