Sibley Hospital itself will remain in-network with Carefirst.

The issues, if not resolved would be with the ambulatory surgical centers in Maryland and with Johns Hopkins faculty providers. If you have a community OB, you will not have an issue.

OP doesn't have in network coverage as far as they are concerned. I don't see the point of this stunt

Definitely check the thread in the health forum. There was a post in the past few days stating that the poster had spoken with Hopkins or CareFirst and was told that hospital charges would be covered through March 2023. It should give you some idea of what to ask about when you call to confirm for yourself. Good luck.

hospital but not doctor/physician charges was my understanding

It’s not ok for providers or insurance companies to drop in December. At the very least they should give the insured to shop around during open season.

Sorry op. It does suck.

That would be great! But I contacted carefirst today and they said “it might be possible to accommodate your pregnancy care” and “We’ll help you find another provider if you want”…

Call member services and see if you can put in a request for Continuity of Care while they continue their contract negotiations…

Received an email from John Hopkins Medicine saying that they may not take carefirst insurance starting from Dec 5th. My employer only allows us to switch insurance plans once a year and next time I can do the switch is in Jan 2023. My due date is in mid December and I did all my altrasound exam/tests at Sibley! What if my OB is only affiliated with Sibley? Do I need to find another OB and another hospital?
