Subject: Daily Activities with Transportation for Seniors?
As mentioned try office on aging . Also if local community center has programs for elderly, ask if they know about transport services some participants use. Many communities do have transport services.

Rockville Senior Center seems to have activities with transportation.

^ yes! Had a neighbor who never drove, her whole life due to epilepsy. She had a few favorite cab drivers (happened to be from Barwood). Prearrange something!

Could she take a taxi or Uber or does she need more help than this getting out of a car/into a building. You might be able to find a local Uber driver or taxi driver who would arrange a trip at a regular time and was willing to help her to a building for a little extra tip.
She could take a class or join the Y and do water aerobics.

Find her county’s Office in Aging/Senior Services and they’ll direct you to senior recreational activity centers and services that can transport her there and back. My mom attends one sporadically- they have arts and crafts, watch movies, bingo etc.
Pre-Covid they had outings (field trips) but many have not resumed.

Check out what the county offers. If nothing else, she may be able to go out to a mall, movie, etc. on her own if there is a transportation option available which she is eligible for.

She uses a cane but basically needs a spotter getting into and out of a vehicle.

Subject: Daily Activities with Transportation for Seniors?
My once VERY active and social butterfly mother had a stroke a few years ago that has left her unable to drive. She has limited mobility on the left side of her body but fortunately, didn't have any cognitive side effects with the stroke. Unfortunately, my mom was used to just hopping in her car to go shopping, out to lunch, etc. She literally never sat still. During the summer my dad takes her down to their beach house quite a bit and she enjoys spending time on the porch talking with neighbors. I know it's her happy place and she told me recently that she's dreading coming back home to Gaithersburg because in the winter, she doesn't get out much. My dad is still working as a consultant, so she spends a lot of the day just on the sofa watching tv while he works. I feel like this has had a terrible effect on her mental health and I'm looking for things that she can get involved in that might occupy her mind.
I was wondering if anyone knew of any organizations in the Gaithersburg/N. Potomac areas that provide seniors/handicapped individuals transportation to and from planned activities? I appreciate any leads.
