I got a dr. Scholl’s odor-x spray on Amazon and I spray them frequently, it seems to help.

A machine like this has worked miracles for us. We dry cleats after every use.

Odor eaters, and dry them well in garage or porch.

We have a cat, and the odorless spray we use to eliminate odors from the litter box (works instantaneously) works on shoes too.

Dryer sheets in them overnight after use. Works on all sorts of smelly gear!

And OP- why are your kids embarrassed? Most teens have this issue with cleats, and they really don't care.

-Stuff newspaper in them

- Get Glovesticks (started with lacrosse, but you can stick them in their cleats)

- leave them in a garage (if you have one) or on your porch, somewhere outside where they can air out

- Have kids take them off as soon as practice/game is over so they don't continue to sweat in them

- Our son's cleats have gotten too pricey, no way I am swapping them out before necessary because of the smell.

I just googled it. My DS has nike boots. I wonder if this is it!!! If that is the case, we should just switch to a different brand becuase the odor is terrible.

My DD has Adidas so she may have a different problem. We'll buy the sneaker balls and deodorizers to see if it helps.

We use sneaker balls (and replace regularly) and use a soccer backpack that has a zippered compartment for cleats (and we put a charcoal deodorizer in the bag that we change regularly.) Plus, kid isn't allowed to take off cleats in the car (either before or after!)

I know that it's hard to keep cleats smelling fresh but how do you keep them from smelling ungodly awful? I don't want to keep buying new cleats when we are in a size that fits but both kids have cleats that are incredibly offensive. Any sprays or tips/tricks that work? Do you just throw them in the wash? Spray? This is embarrassing. Poor kids.

General sports because this could be soccer, football, baseball or any cleats. They all stink.
