PP who said whole food is cheaper than Harris’s teeter, can you share the list of things to prove it? Because each time I try whole food, I can’t find anything affordable apart from some kind of cheese.

All that said, it is probably 250-300 a week now for a family of four. We rarely eat out and we don't buy much meat.

I just spent $16 for an organic roaster at Aldi! Maybe I should be taking the trip to Whole Foods.

6 people and we went from 150-175 to 350 a week now and there's no way around it. We are pretty healthy but frugal, lots of produce but there's really no way around it anymore. I compare prices all around, so it's turned into picking a few things from Wegmans, a few things from Aldies, and a few things from Trader Joes, etc.

We spend between 350-400 per week. My husband and I both work from home and we probably only each out or get take out 1 or 2 meals per week. Groceries have gotten expensive.

Probably $400-500 a week on groceries and depending on how crazy the week is, take out can range from 1-3 times per week.

Easily $400 - $500 a week. Not sure of the exact amount, but it’s a lot. We also rarely eat out, cook from scratch, brew our own coffee, etc.

Curious what your spending looks like and how you've cut back.

I used to think grocery stores were better than WF but I did a check with HT and 90% was cheaper at WF. I cost compared every single item on my list and ended up getting only 10 or so items from HT and 50+ from WF. Thats my cost savings.

You can do cheaper and still be healthier, but you sacrifice convenience.
I’ve found I can drive down my groceries cost substantially by hitting Costco, an Asian supermarket for produce and protein (Great Wall has excellent produce for very good prices), and a standard supermarket like giant or even Whole Foods for the rest.
Don’t have time every week to do it, but there’s very few places in America that have this amount and variety of grocery stores, taking advantage of each of their strengths saves money and is also delicious

We eat out around 2-3 times/week and our grocery only bill (no takeout) is over 2K/month. We eat all pasture-raised meats and wild fish, so this is why it's so much.

Thank you, I feel the same way! It's just skyrocketed. And if my dh went shopping, I assume that's what it would like too--a lot of Mac and cheese and cereal and barely any protein or produce.

I'm not even shopping at Whole Foods or MOMs like I used to when I had one small baby who ate a few bananas a week

We used to cover all meals for between $200 and $250 a week for all 4 of us. This included ordering pizza on Fridays and one other take out night.

Now- we are closer to $400 a week. Prices are just out of control- both at the grocery store and for take out. We spent $50 on pizza last week. Insane.

We are trying to overhaul our meal planning and grocery shopping routines. My husband just did a full shop for the week for $150 but I have to say- its a lot of processed foods and less produce and fresh protein than I usually buy. I don't feel great about it.
