To me, it reminds me of the meme of the deity checking social media to see if he sick child has received enough “thoughts and prayers” to be saved.

It always sounded like a command to me. "I need restaurant recommendations, go!"

I know people who use this who are nice and polite IRL and it still strikes me as rude and annoying when they use it in posts. Peremptory would be the word to describe it.

Solipsism. They think the internet is a vast horde of minions desperate to be of service to them. Unwarranted self-importance.

It’s rude and presumptuous, like people have nothing better to do than drop everything and respond.

I just skip the thread if I see those words.

I don't even open those threads.

Its horrible. Makes me cringe every time.

It assumes people are just thrilled to quickly respond and offer advice which is often an easy google search.

It's annoying.

It's so rude, I don't understand people asking for help and then basically demanding a response. I also don't understand why someone would respond to a rude person like that, but they do.

One of the first threads I ever read on DCUMs had this and one of you said "don't say go...". I loved it.

I assume it's carried over from an in-person question where it's meant to be a signal that you're done talking and other people should start responding. Which is pointless in writing because it's obvious that you're done since there is nothing else to read.

I’m always kind of amazed by the confidence of people who use that phrase on Facebook. They were probably popular in middle school. I just would never use it because I would be afraid that like one or two people only would respond and I look like a loser

Same. It pops up here on DCUM from time to time. It’s even worse when it starts with “Talk to me about…AND GO!”

That is the fastest way to move me along and not respond.
