We are at Key. Had individual class presentations. Hope they keep it this way. I liked ours.

Nope. I remember meeting as one big group back in elem for my now HS Senior.

Eight years at Ashlawn and we never had a group BTSN. Of course in fourth and fifth grade if there were teamed teachers they would meet together but that makes sense. Not the whole grade. My kids are in MS.

All I wanted to know was how much time they are spending on iPads but I couldn’t figure it out.

Our school's 3rd grade team did a group presentation. A full 12 minutes was a video introducing every.single.person at the school. Then lots of slides about general school procedures. They barely covered what will actually be happening in class. It felt more like the school's chance to throw a bunch of info at parents. The third grade presentation was so much better. They talked about what first graders are going through, what they'll be learning, how parents can support their kids, etc.

I loved our Elementary school's BTS night. Glad to see only 5% of parents wearing a mask, and even less teachers. Our kids need normalcy.

my child's 5th grade class did that this year. Kind of weird. But they are having a specific night for 5th grade later this month where we get to meet with he teacher for an hour and learn about 5th grade (the curriculum and out door lab and all that). I wish that all could have bene done at back to school night but alas. . .

This isn’t new. As you get to the higher levels they teach as a team. In the last few years of elem we always had the grades as one big group at BTSN

Our school is doing it this way as well, probably the same school. My child's teacher won't even be there, so we're not bothering.

Ugh, that sounds awful. What school is doing it that way?

It depends. Seems like you are not new to the school so if you don’t feel like going it probably won’t make a difference! I plan on going cuz DD started during Covid. Her first year was virtual and on her next year we never were able to enter the school.

Our school has BTSN tonight. In years past, we would go into the child's classroom and meet the teacher and hear about our child's day. This year, they are having all of the parents for each grade meet in one (non classroom) room. I guess that all of the teachers will be there? What is the point of attending if I've already met the teacher and if we won't see the classroom? Any downsides to skipping? The slides will be on the internet the next day.
