Second, yes, this is very, very sad. Alcohol just makes me feel awful in my 40s… instant hot flash, especially from wine, and I can’t sleep, I feel sluggish and headachy and unmotivated the next day. Sigh. And with meat, I never noticed an issue until I went mostly vegetarian. Now when I eat animal protein, and always local/grass-fed/organic - I just feel really full and lethargic and icky the next day. Sigh. Sigh. Sigh.
None of this means that you can't ever drink or eat meat again. You're still able to make trade offs. For me, this would mean I only drank rarely, when it would really contribute to my fun (like a college reunion or wedding or something) and just plan a low key day the next day or two after. I'd probably eat less meat, but not no meat. It doesn't have to be black and white.
