I told you this in my first post. There is no practical goal to my thread, except deep sadness that I need to express.


This is not a "warning, please get vaccinated" post. Otherwise I would have posted in the Health Forum. The people that have refused vaccines are certainly not going to be swayed now.

My 73 year old aunt was in good health. But she caught a massive load of Covid because she was caring for her husband, who caught it first, and then recovered at home. She did not recover, and made her choice, since she refused vaccination, mask-wearing AND hospitalization.

So what can you do for these people? Nothing. It's indescribably sad.

I am a very conservative woman politically (double boosted) but I do believe everyone should be vaccinated so please don't put all of us in the same basket. Not everyone who voted for Trump follows his advice on vaccination.

My sister turns 50 in a few weeks. She is highly educated, not vaccinated, and has never had Covid. She lives by herself and works from home. She doesn’t have a lot of exposure but recently traveled by airplane twice. Still no Covid. I’m shocked but it’s possible.

I am very sorry, OP. My triple vaxxed 65 year old uncle almost died from COVID. He literally spent two month (July-august) bedridden and some time in the hospital. If he didn’t go to the hospital he would have probably died too.

Op, it’s sad, but everyone makes their own choices in life.

How old were they? I have news for you, it's no picnic losing your vaccinated parent to a 10 year descent into raging and tantrumming dementia.

I feel sorry for her kids but, honestly, I can't say I feel sorry for her.

Sad, but no one should be unvaccinated. The unhealthy, uneducated and unvaccinated will get covid (just lie the rest of us) and some will die. It’s preventable.

I'm sorry OP. They didn't take a chance on the one thing (vaccines) that could have saved their lives.

What is there to say? Mostly I feel terrible for their kids.

One of my aunts died in January of Covid. She'd refused the vaccines, was sick for a few days, felt better then died suddenly.
And now another one of my aunts died of Covid, also unvaccinated. She was very ill, her husband kept suggesting 911 and sending her to the hospital, but she was very adamant she did not want any of that... so she died at home, without any medical support.

My other relatives are vaccinated and boostered, and most of them got and recovered from mild versions of Covid.

Sigh. As I said, I feel really bad for my cousins who lost their mom. They're adults and have their own lives, but still.

The whole vaccination refusal is just mind-boggling to me, especially the second case, refusing to learn from her sister's case.

I'm not looking for anything in particular, I just need to throw this out into the void.
