Sorry don't agree with the responses.

My microwave was working 100% , heating food and not the plate, irrespective of the plate type.

Recently it's the other way around. It must have something to do with the micro-wave, I will reply once I've recieved it back from LG.

It's definitely NOT the plate type.

I wonder how the microwave knows the difference between the plate and the food?

OP poster here...no they aren't plastic..they are the regular dinner plate type plates. It's just strange. They say microwavable on the back. Didn't know if it was something with my microwave or with the plates.

Yup, melamine is notorious for this. Heat the food on glass or china and transfer it to the kiddie plate at the table.

If the plate is getting too hot (and the food is not) it isn't a microwave-safe plate. There are tests you can do for cups and bowls (involve heating a cup/bowl of water and see if it gets too hot before the water boils or something), but I'm not sure of the equivalent for a plate.

You have to find some plates/containers that are made for the microwave (don't heat up). I use the IKEA 365 series (they are white containers with red lids).

Try thawing/defrosting first - 50% power

Then dont use the plate you're using.

Does this happen to anyone? I put a plate with something frozen in it in the microwave and when it's done the plate is super hot and the food is still cold? What is that all about?
