Some need a shot transition morning nap for a 3-4 weeks. Put down to rest in the morning, but for 30 - 45 minutes tops to get them through to a longer afternoon nap.

Op here. Thank you. For those who have one nap, how many hours after your child wakes up do you put them down for bed? Or do you have a set bedtime every night regardless?

Transitions are never cut and dry. Some days she’ll be ok with one nap and some days she’ll be too tired and need the afternoon nap. Follow her cues and roll with it. In a few weeks her schedule will probably be more consistent.

Both of my kids were good sleepers and dropped the morning nap at 15 months. I’d push through and focus on moving the afternoon nap time up 15 minutes as well as the bedtime up 15 minutes. She might need just a little more. Play around with it and see what happens.

My daughter is 15 months old. She’s been a great sleeper her whole life, and up until about a three weeks ago was sleeping 12 hours at night and taking two 1.5-2 hour naps a day. Then suddenly she started not falling asleep for her afternoon nap. She would not cry but would just lay in her crib and roll around or babble. After a week of this I figured she must be ready to drop that nap. So I’ve transitioned her to one midday nap, which she takes easily and sleeps for around two hours. The first week it was fine but this last week she has been a wreck. Fussy and screaming by 4:00 in the afternoon. Not herself (she’s a super chill kid usually). She is also getting her molars. Should I try the two naps again or just keep pushing forward with this? I feel like she’s sleep deprived but she was resisting that second nap so much. Thanks for any feedback.
