The software uses cookies to track the student's activities on the website. They become a "known" visitor after filling out a form, such as joining the mailing list. Then the software can assign a numeric score to the student's interest.

They have software that tracks students by their email address and whether they've opened/clicked an email, visited a website, which page they visited on the website, whether they filled out a form to request info or sign up for a tour, etc.

I don't know too many details but the answer is maybe sort of.

Schools can track whatever they want, but they might have to pay for higher levels of monitoring. My particular area tracks more analytics out of interest and strategy concerns. But its not tied to an individual student (though I suppose if one prospective student was geographically isolated that could be figured out).

They have teams that are scouring your social media.

Do they literally have a dashboard that counts the applicant's touchpoints with the school?
