My kids had homework in first grade but it could be completed in 5-10 minutes.

15 mins a night of reading aloud or math facts or spelling homework did wonders for our children. And we saw what they were expected to know or if any issues were popping up with those subjects.

Once in awhile a project or group work project popped up in lower school, with some individual homework.

Are you pro or against it? We are at a local private who does not start homework until 2nd grade. However, my neighbor said at her DCs DCPS, they get homework every night in 1st grade. Just wanted to see what people's thoughts were.....
