I just said no and the phase passed. I didn't see a big reason to encourage that particular interest at such a young age. A lot of the chemicals are pretty bad for a small growing body.
Klee Naturals is non toxic and not overly sparkly. I like their nail polish for my DD too because it peels off easily within a few days.

I got a Nailmatic lip gloss for my 6 yo last Christmas. It’s colorless and lightly scented; she loves it for dress up. I think the brand is French but can be found on Amazon, Nordstrom, and elsewhere.

+1, this is a great book. Used it a bunch when my daughter was 4/5.

Beware anything cheap. Many contain talc, lead, horrible stuff. (Some of the expensive stuff does too, honestly) I just let my kid play with my clean makeup brushes, no product, and that is enough for her to play pretend.

Make sure you find something without toxic chemicals

I don’t do makeup, but my DD3 loves accessories and pretend to wear makeup. I think either she sees other doing that before or she just wants to be pretty. Her 4th birthday is coming up in a few months, and I think i am considering to get her a makeup set, like kid friendly lip gross/ flavored chapstick, nail polish and some hair accessories with small mirror. I don’t want toy, but practical ones.
