I don’t understand your acronyms.

Basically, rescues will acquire dogs that originated in puppy mills in three ways.

1. Taking in dogs seized by the humane society when mills are shut down or mills dump dogs.
2. Purchasing dogs through auctions supplied by puppy mills.
3. Pulling dogs from shelters that were relinquished by owners who acquired them through puppy mills.

The humane society did a research project a few years ago and found that only 10% of dogs originated from a breeder. The term breeder encompassed any type so you have reputable breeders, puppy mills and backyard breeders. The vast majority of dogs in shelters originated from people who acquired the dg from a friend, family member etc and strays with unknown origins.
